SOWMA’s Bridge Mentoring Program helps high school and college-age students explore educational and career opportunities.
We place special emphasis on working with unaccompanied youth, ages 16 – 24, who are on their own without the support of a parent or guardian.
In addition to helping students navigate high school, college or vocational training, we support students through GED study, HiSet exams, internships, job placement and apprenticeships. Most of our Bridge Mentoring students are the first in their family to pursue a post-secondary degree.
Thanks to the generosity of Bill and Annmarie Harlor, the Soaring Scholars Scholarship program further supports students in our Bridge Mentoring Program.
The average student to school counselor ratio is 482 to 1. That's 482 high school students to to one guidance counselor.
SOWMA Mentors help high school and college students navigate post-secondary plans and transitions during times of overwhelming uncertainty. Mentors offer personalized guidance, academic and career resources to help students gain confidence and reach their potential.
