I first met Will when he was 14 years old and living at the Super 8 Motel in Brockton with his mom and family. It was August 2006, and I was dropping off backpacks to the children in the motels. Will said, he remembers this lady pulling up to the motel and getting out of her car with lots of new backpacks. He wondered why someone he didn’t even know would give him a backpack filled with school supplies, including the calculator he needed for high school.

Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations.  #GivingTuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday, the giving community can come together for #GivingTuesday.

A Tribute to Their Future!

A gift to School on Wheels of Massachusetts in honor of a friend, colleague, teacher or special occasion is a gift that reflects your belief in the power of education.  Our promise is to pay forward your gift to a student impacted by homelessness and in need of school supplies, encouragement and a consistent caring voice that says "you matter."

Thank You for Making a Difference
One Child at a Time!

Our students at the Downey School were very excited to learn that we will have an iPad for the entire year.
I met Darren in 2004 when he was living at the Louison Center in Brockton with his mom. The Louison was our first family shelter, and Darren was our first student. He was in the 6th grade and failing half of his classes when we first started working with him. He told his tutor Steve “I am just a dumb kid. " His tutor taught him how to play chess to show him he was not dumb; he had simply missed layers of learning due to multiple moves.

Please consider setting up a "Giving Tree".

By setting up a “Giving Tree” in your location, your customers, guests, members or employees can select a School on Wheels ornament from the “Giving Tree” and make a donation to support one of our students.
