I first met Will when he was 14 years old and living at the Super 8 Motel in Brockton with his mom and family. It was August 2006, and I was dropping off backpacks to the children in the motels. Will said, he remembers this lady pulling up to the motel and getting out of her car with lots of new backpacks. He wondered why someone he didn’t even know would give him a backpack filled with school supplies, including the calculator he needed for high school.
Giving Tuesday
#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations. #GivingTuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday, the giving community can come together for #GivingTuesday.
A Tribute to Their Future!
A gift to School on Wheels of Massachusetts in honor of a friend, colleague, teacher or special occasion is a gift that reflects your belief in the power of education. Our promise is to pay forward your gift to a student impacted by homelessness and in need of school supplies, encouragement and a consistent caring voice that says "you matter."
"Children are likely to live up to what you believe in them."
