Tutor A Student

Tutor a student
Make a difference in the life of a student who has been impacted by homelessness in Brockton, Fall River, New Bedford, Norwell, Randolph, Stoughton or Weymouth by volunteering one or two hours a week.

During our mandatory three-hour training, we will prepare you for an amazing one-on-one tutoring experience with a student in kindergarten through grade 12. You will meet with a student each week and serve as a mentor and positive adult role model to help a child realize his or her full academic potential.

• Tutors must be 18 years of age to tutor on their own. High School students can tutor with a parent or other adult they know.

• Tutors must complete a three-hour tutor training. Click to view the schedule and sign up for our volunteer tutor training. Join our Interested Tutors list to be notified of upcoming trainings.

• Tutors must fill out the paperwork and bring it to the tutor training.

Once trained, you will be matched with a student at one of our program sites. Tutors can choose an age group with which they would like to work. Additional tutor educational workshops are offered throughout the year.

We ask volunteer tutors to commit to tutoring once a week for a minimum of one term (see term dates below). It is vital that tutors honor their commitment to their student by coming every week.

  • TERM ONE:  September 21  - December 10, 2015
  • TERM TWO:  January 11 – May 19, 2016
