Holiday Box Deliveries

Over 35 volunteers from the Cardinal Spellman School and even more from the Boxer Mentor Group at Brockton High School came to our operations center in Brockton ready to get to work. Each volunteer chose one of the names of our students.

A box was packed according to the age and individual preferences of the student.

Each box had a fresh cache of school supplies (is there anything better than fresh markers and sharp crayons?), an age appropriate book or two and a special gift item.
Each box was carefully decorated and labeled by our volunteer.
Then, in the weeks prior to Christmas, more volunteers and SOWMA staff packed the boxes into their cars and brought them to our teaching sites and shelters to deliver them to our students.
Here, at the Y in Brockton, students were just finishing up their Monday night tutoring session. Once the students had put away their schoolwork for the session, everyone headed out to the common area for a Holiday Concert by the Price Family. The concert was followed with distribution of the holiday boxes.

The children were very excited to find coloring books, modeling clay, new pencils, dictionaries and so much more in their boxes.
