Volunteers are the heartbeat of School on Wheels and can make the difference in a child's life.  If you can help a student (K-12) impacted by homelessness for one hour, once a week as a tutor to help build confidence, self-esteem and a love of learning, please contact us.  Our volunteer tutors come from all walks of life and backgrounds.  Each volunteer receives free training and serves as a consistent and positive adult role model during confusing times. Our tutors help children stay focused on schoolwork, empower them by recognizing achievement and instill a love for learning.  Learn more here.

Our high school and college mentors are caring adults who commit 3 - 4 hours a month helping a student plan post-secondary and career options.  Our trained mentors help students identify resources to build self-sufficiency.  Whether you're helping a high school student navigate the college application process, or assisting a college student with job shadowing, internships or networking, your experience and guidance is invaluable to a student in need.   Pease learn more on how you can change a life.  Maybe yours!  Learn more here

Donations enable us to provide fully-stocked quality backpacks and new school supplies to students from kindergarten through college. Our donations come from school supply drives staged by volunteers at their place of business, with community groups, at schools or as a partnership through places of worship.  There are many ways to help stock our shelves, including SOWMA's AmazonSmiles online campaign.  Review our supply needs here.

Become involved in one of our events.  We are always looking for people to help organize, orchestrate or promote our fundraisers.  Visit our homepage and click "Events" for our latest happenings!

We would love for you to visit our office with your friends, family or co-workers to help prepare backpacks and organize donations.  Student volunteers can receive community credit hours!  Call 508.587.9091 to make an appointment.

Kids helping kids!

Encourage your child, a youth group or student club to create activities to support peers who are impacted by homelessness. Children who help others learn empathy and feel empowered by acts of generosity.

Our young volunteers have found creative ways to support our students.  Proceeds from car washes, casino nights, lemonade stands, yard sales, bake sales, and school events have provided vital financial resources to help us equip our students with backpacks, academic and career guidance and tools for learning.

A tribute card makes a great gift for teachers, coaches, family, and friends. A gift to SOWMA is a wonderful way to honor someone's birthday, anniversary, or special occasion.

We would love to hear from you.
