Become a SOWMA Tutor or Mentor

TUTORS

Tutors work with Students in Grades K - 12 one-on-one for one hour/once a week for at least one full semester.

Our volunteer tutors come from different backgrounds and professions.  The goal for our tutors is to provide academic and emotional consistency during chaotic times and foster confidence and support in learning.

Tutors reinforce grade level learning skills, work on school projects and help boost a child’s self-esteem.

MENTORING / HIGH SCHOOL PLUS

Mentors work one-on-one with a High School or College Student  for 3 - 4 hours a month for at least a full school year.

SOWMA mentors are part of our High School Plus Program for high school and college students.  Our adult mentors spend 3+ hours a month helping a student navigate post-secondary plans, transitions and goals.  Our mentors help build a student's self-sufficiency skills by identifying available resources and providing guidance on exploring post-secondary options.
